An exchange on WhatsApp between the former custodian of Luis Lacalle Pou, Alexander Astesianoand the former National Deputy Director of Police, Hector Ferreirain March 2022, would confirm that the Presidency of the Republic was aware that Astesiano had a criminal record.
According to the audio revealed by The Daily, begin by talking about an administrative situation of a police officer who seeks to be transferred from Section 12 of José Batlle y Ordoñez to the presidential residence of Suárez y Reyes. It is, according to Astesiano, a matter that is being discussed in the “private secretary” of Lacalle Pou: “It is on file at the (Interior) Ministry and we want to see what can be done.”
The file has not yet been moved, says Ferreira, and Astesiano takes the opportunity to resume a previous dialogue about supposed changes in the police leadership, a topic that seems to interest both of them. “Don’t worry, you are protected. Here the 1 is protecting you”Astesiano reassures him, in a subsequent audio message.
“I still want to get to the bottom of the matter. I’m sick of getting dirty for no reason… and HDP. I’m going to investigate one and you know who,” Ferreira retorts. “They are HDPs. Later in the conversation, Astesiano refers to himself and how, in the Presidency, they knew about his criminal record: “When I entered, he had my entire record.
