The postpaid business appears to be AT&T's main value in Mexico

The postpaid vertical was a locomotive that pulled all of AT&T’s business in Mexico during the year 2025.

Postpaid was a Big Boy that started the year with a 38% growth in net additions and still ended it with greater gas, after adding another 61% more net clients per contract in the last quarter of 2025 in which the Mexican economy teetered on the brink of recession.

AT&T itself reported on the stock market that it added 1 million 104,000 total net new customers in 2025, but, perhaps out of modesty, it did not say that the 82.79% of all net users won in the market, they were contract clients or what is the same, 914,000 new postpaid users that did not end up on the networks of other brands, such as Telcel or BAITwho in turn is days away from reporting what his first experience was like in that vertical and being a virtual mobile operator.

In all of 2025, postpaid grew by double digits for AT&T; for example, 74.8% in the third quarter and 29% in the second.

AT&T became a company with 6.75 million contract customers in 2025a brand that would place it in a better position compared to Telefónica Movistar in the showcase of Mexican telecoms for sale that Arab funds and national financiers look at.

Postpaid service also became a third of all AT&T business in Mexico during the year, occupying the 27.35% of the total portfolio of that company in the country, when a year ago the level was at 24.76% and the result of the work of the engineer who directs the AT&T train along the rails of the Mexican mobile market and of the stoker who feeds the postpaid coal mine.

The data is a blow, because in relation to Telcel’s total business, that company’s postpaid represents the 18.71% of its entire operation, even though Telcel has a portfolio of 15.78 million contract users.

The fourth quarter was the most relevant for the company, in which it added 531,000 total net customers, of which 61.77% were net new postpaid users: 328,000 of them. And 21% more income in the portfolio is another positive number, since the company closed the period with 1,259 million dollars in tickets.

“We closed 2025 with solid financial results, sustained growth in users and a more efficient operation. Today we proudly serve more than 24.7 million people in Mexico,” AT&T said.

In 2025 and until February 11, the matrix of BAIT report its results on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), it will have been AT&T’s year as the second operator in Mexico by volume of its own users, because its cellular network is already the second network with the highest traffic in the country, because the data of the around 21 million customers of Movistar.

In all of 2025, AT&T generated 4,379 million dollars, reached an EBITDA of 817 million dollars and achieved a net profit of 145 million dollarsdespite the fact that in the net balance of its almost eleven years in Mexico, its American investors still show a net loss that exceeds 3,942 million dollars, due to factors such as expensive inputs (spectrum) and the difficulties of increasing the ARPU beyond 147 pesos; but with all this, an optimistic AT&T launched:

“In terms of the number of active customers and also our income, we are, by far, the second mobile operator in Mexico, and we continue to grow. Let’s go for a better 2026!”, AT&T said for a BAIT challenger that at the start of 2025 He assured that that year the second company on the market would be a virtual mobile operator, a unique milestone in the history of Mexican telecommunications.
