“The Government has seriously failed to comply,” says the National Transport Assembly.
Cargo transporters ask the Government not to increase the ACPM price.
The National Transport Assembly (ANT) is one of the unions that, in recent weeks, has expressed non-compliance by the Government with what was agreed on September 6. The price of fuel is one of the points that cause discomfort.
“The Government has seriously failed to comply (…) The technical table has not been convened to review the fuel price policy agreed upon last year. The Ministry of Transport has ignored our observations about the structural changes to the regulation of economic relations and an Efficient Cost System (Sicetac) has not been implemented in accordance with the reality of the trucking bases, Alejandro Quiroga, executive president of the ANT, told RCN Radio.

“The possibility of a new strike is high and is close if the national government continues to fail to comply. The lack of progress on critical points and empty promises have generated deep disappointment and frustration in the sector. Transporters are ready for a total cessation of activities if fair and necessary demands are not met,” he continued.
Quiroga added that, from the Executive, the vehicle modernization programs were unilaterally frozen, affecting hundreds of transporters. Regarding the recent increases in both ACPM and tolls, he considered them as “another example of non-compliance.”
This, in reference to paragraph 3 of the act signed in September, which suspended diesel increases until “structural transformations in economic relations in cargo transportation, and in the special and passenger service modality” were achieved.

On the previous day, the Ministry of Transportation announced that will ask both the Ombudsman’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office to verify compliance of agreements with truckers. According to the entity, communication from a sector that raises disagreements will be added.
This Friday, a virtual technical table was held that, after about six hours, included the balance from that government office and the concerns of the trucking bases. Among the points addressed is the updating of vehicle typologies and loads, salaries and other working conditions, in addition to cargo manifests valid only if they meet the values set in Sicetac.
