The population of Santa Matías performs this Saturday a minga to eliminate breeding sites of mosquitoes and avoid the transmission of dengue. This activity is carried out with the support and coordination of the Mayor’s Office, the Governor’s Office and the military.
The doctor Rubén Berazaín, head of Epidemiological of San Matías, commented that the minga has had a good acceptance of the citizens of Matías and highlighted the support of the different institutions and organizations that participated in the Municipal Emergency Operations Committee (COEM), where this activity was planned.
He indicated that the cleaning work began at 06:00 with the municipal and military brigades that They walked the streets collecting the farms of mosquitoes that the neighbors took out of their houses.
“What needs to be thrown away are containers that have water, that is, they are breeding grounds for mosquitoes, not branches or mattresses that take out unconscious residents, because the minga is not to take out all your garbage, but rather to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes, because each mosquito lays more than 120 eggs in a container with water,” explained Berazaín.
For his part, Giovanni Borth, director of the Health Network, said that he came to San Matías to collaborate with the minga on behalf of the Departmental Health Service of the Government and highlighted the participation of the neighbors.
He pointed out that until this noon they had already visited 90% of the houses of the city and that in the course of the afternoon it was going to conclude with the rural areas.
