Almost two years after the report of the first case of covid-19 in the Dominican Republic, the population begins to live without fear and return to daily life due to the decline in disease indicators.

The fear of parks, shopping malls and even concerts is already a thing of the past, for hundreds of people who consider that the worst of the pandemic is over and it is time to regain freedom.

However, in the reactivation of meetings and social events, the usefulness of masks to prevent the spread of the viral condition does not go unnoticed, despite the fact that President Luis Abinader announced last Wednesday the elimination of restrictive measures.

Ana Celeste, who went to the Botanical Garden yesterday to share with friends from the church, told this medium that the use of face masks is still essential because the coronavirus is still latent in the country.

Likewise, Felicia Pineda, who was also in the aforementioned area in the company of her family, pointed out that the neglect of the biosafety protocol can cause another spike in contagion of the pathology, which is why she understands that it is important to follow the health regulations to stop the circulation of the virus.

Likewise, Mr. Bautista Morillo, although he left home to share with relatives in the Mirador Sur, described the lifting of the restrictions as hasty because covid-19 is still causing infections in the citizenry.

“People have been forced to lead their normal lives, but we have to be careful,” he said.

However, for people like Miguel Compres, who already has three shots from the vaccine, the pandemic situation in the territory is under control, which is why he considers anti-coronavirus rules unnecessary.

“I have never gotten sick in times of covid, and I feel safe going to banks and supermarkets,” he stressed while enjoying Sunday’s atmosphere unprotected in Colón Park in the Colonial Zone.

In the tourist area there was also Andrés Encarnación, who favored the withdrawal of the provisions to deal with the condition, after assuring that the Government has the condition under control.

Despite the president’s speech, where he indicated that all restrictive measures had been eliminated, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) called on the population to continue with the rigorous use of masks in health centers and in mass transportation. .

The entity also urged citizens to avoid crowds, massive events and continue with frequent hand washing, as well as to be vigilant against possible sources of contact in their daily activities.

The government entity maintains the vaccination schedule for all those over 18 in three doses, and suggests an optional reinforcement, that is, a fourth injection, for adults over 60 years of age, immunosuppressed people and for those who require it due to their special condition. of health.

The presence of people is high in green areas

Celebrating birthdays, spending time with family and exercising are just some of the reasons that lead hundreds of people from the capital to visit various parks in Santo Domingo at the weekend, such as the Botanical Garden or the Mirador Sur. But areas that are not so central in the city, such as the shore of the Malecón, also represent an attraction for those who seek to enjoy the sea. Saturdays and Sundays are not only fun, but for religious people they are the perfect days to have an encounter with God. To enter these spaces, it is no longer necessary to wear masks, nor to have at least two doses of one of the available vaccines, to prevent outbreaks of coronavirus infections.

Origin
On March 1, 2020, the Ministry of Public Health reported at a press conference the discovery of the first positive case of covid-19 in the Dominican Republic. It was Claudio Pascualini, a 62-year-old man who entered the country from Italy.
