Pope Francis today called on societies not to forget the war in Ukraine as the conflict drags on and urged them to fight for peace.
“I always keep alive in my heart the thought for the Ukrainian population affected by the war. That the time that passes does not cool our pain and concern for the martyred people, “said Francisco, after the Angelus prayer.
“Please, let’s not get used to this tragic reality, let’s always keep it in our hearts. Let us fight and pray for peace », she concluded.
Pope Francis has condemned the violence on numerous occasions and has called for peace for countries like Ukraine, as far as he said he was willing to go after the invitation of the Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenski, although he later confessed in an interview with the Argentine newspaper «The Nation» that would not travel because, he asked himself, «what would be the point if the war would continue the next day?».
Jorge Bergoglio also told the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera” that he had requested to travel to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to ask him to stop the war in Ukraine. EFE
