The pope cancels his activities again due to a knee problem

Pope Francis, 85, canceled his planned activities for the second time in less than a week due to knee pain, the Vatican announced.

“Due to knee pain, and on medical recommendation, Pope Francis suspended the activities scheduled for today, including his participation in the Council of Cardinals,” the Holy See press service announced.

On Friday the pontiff, who on several occasions appeared with gestures of pain, canceled his commitments to undergo medical examinations.

Francisco, who began the tenth year of his pontificate in March, suffers from “acute” pain in his right knee, which recently prevented him from participating in some events and presiding over some celebrations.

He also has hip pains that cause him to limp and in July 2021 he underwent colon surgery.
