donald trumppresident of the United States, uploaded the first photo of Nicolás Maduro to his Truth Social account after he was arrested in an operation in Venezuela.
Maduro was arrested with his wife Cilia Flores for accusations such as drug trafficking conspiracy and was therefore transferred to New York City, where he will be tried.
In the US president’s publication, the Venezuelan was seen arrested and blindfolded aboard the USS Iwo Jima helicopter.
Trump said this Saturday that they carried out a spectacular operation to achieve the arrest of Maduro. “It was an assault the likes of which had not been seen since World War II,” he said.
The Republican said that the operation was carried out in the heart of Caracas and represents one of the most important acts of military power in his country.
“There have been other operations like Soleimani’s attack,” he recalled about the series of attacks they have undertaken against irregular groups.
He confirmed that Maduro and Flores will be tried in the Southern District of New York to answer for the different crimes they are accused of drug trafficking.
