The Philharmonic Orchestra of Santa Cruz de la Sierra prepares to unleash a musical revolution with its 2025 season. And it starts with everything, presenting “Level Up: symphonic adventure”, a concert that promises to make an “game over” and take the public to another level of emotions by merging the sound bands of video games and symphonic music.
Under the baton of the teacher Isaac Third, the philharmonic Cruceña is ready to offer a unique experience, exploring the fascinating world of music created for video games. “It is a proposal that has never been made before in our city,” says third parties, with the same emotion of a game fan who faces a new challenge.
The mission? Connect with a diverse audience, from the joystick veterans to the new generations of “gamers”. The repertoire? A luxury “combo” that includes legendary gaming melodies such as Super Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and The Last of Us, among others.
The idea germinated a spark of inspiration that emerged in a radio interview. “Hey, why don’t the philharmonic play video game music in any of its concerts?” It was the challenge that ignited the fuse of this innovative project.
The result is an epic musical journey that will cover from the timeless classics to the most recent successes in the world of the console game. But this is not just a concert; It is a total immersion. “We are going to have extramusic elements that will be accompanying the staging,” he anticipates third parties, promising an experience that will stimulate all the senses.
More than 150 artists will take the stage of the Santa Cruz Cooperative School College on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday. The orchestra, composed of 70 musicians, will join an equally numerous choir led by Karina Troiano, in addition to having electronic instruments and special effects that will add a contemporary dimension to the show.
The preparation of this event has been a marathon work that was managed since the beginning of last year. “The first thing that is done is to look for scores,” explains third parties, detailing the meticulous process of selection and adaptation of music.
However, the road has not been exempt from challenges. Third confesses that some pieces, such as “God of War”, have considerable vocal complexity, demanding a deep and powerful low record. “There are many works that have great technical and rhythmic challenges,” he adds, underlining the arduous work that implies bringing these melodies to life on stage.
The truth is that the philharmonic begins its 2025 season with an innovative proposal that celebrates the power of music as universal language.
And it is that the influence of music extends far beyond the concert hall. Its power is manifested in various disciplines, such as cinema, advertising and, very special, in video games, where it has evolved from being a simple sound background to a key piece that defines and enriches the player’s experience.
A year full of projects and emotions
And the adventure just begins, because the Philharmonic has planned 2025 loaded with projects. In June he has prepared a classical music season with the presence of special guests from the Central University of Arkansas. “We are going to present a choral symphonic work,” says third parties, guest musicians will share their experience in orchestral formation days, and orchestra direction.
In July, two of the orchestra musicians will participate in the Kent Blossom Music Festival, in Ohio, where they will join the prestigious Cleveland orchestra.
In September, the Philharmonic will pay tribute to the crossed music, celebrating the Bicentennial with great composers of our land. And to close the year with a brooch of gold, in November, they will stage a classic classic: “The Nutcracker” of Tchaikovsky.
“LEVEL UP: Symphony Adventure” is just the beginning of a year full of music, emotion and surprises by the Philharmonic of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
