At least two people died and nine were injured after a shooting occurred this Saturday on the campus of Brown University in the city of Providence, in the state of Rhode Island. The suspect, described as wearing dark clothing and in his 30s, was still at large, according to cnn.
“We deeply regret to inform you that we have confirmed the death of two victims in the shooting that occurred at the Barus & Holley engineering building,” the university reported. All of the victims were students, college president Christina H. Paxson added in an email to the community, calling it “an unimaginably tragic day.”

According to Providence Police Department Deputy Chief Timothy O’Hara, it is unknown how the suspect entered the campus; However, they know that he came out after the shooting.
According to cnna person, “of interest in connection with the shooting at Brown University,” was arrested early Sunday at a hotel in the Providence area. Authorities were provided with information about whether weapons were found in the room when the person was detained.
The city’s mayor, Brett Smiley, explained that there was a first arrest but it was later shown that he “was not involved” in the event.
The students were notified by an internal alert
Police received a call about a shooting on the university’s engineering campus. Around 5:00 p.m. local time, Brown informed students of an active shooting in an internal alert and asked them to take shelter.
US President Donald Trump reported that FBI agents had been deployed to the area to support local agencies, according to a quote from EFE. For his part, the vice president, JD Vance, said he was monitoring the situation and asked to pray for the victims.
