The Attorney General’s Office imposed a deadline on Colombian Institute of Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad (Icetex) to explain the reasons why there have been delays in the disbursements of the educational credit lines for the second half of 2024 and first half of 2025.
“Detailed information has been required on the allocation, programming and disbursement of resources intended for the financing of educational credits for the second semester of 2024 and the year 2025.“said the control body.

The request for this information comes after the credit institution launched an alert due to the lack of resources for credit renewals and student registrations in the General Budget of the Nation.
“The required entities must send the requested information no later than November 25, 2024. The Attorney General’s Office will continue to exercise strict surveillance to guarantee that the necessary measures are adopted to ensure access to quality higher education in the country.“added the Public Ministry.

According to Icetex figures, 929,077 Colombians used some of the financing lines for university studies in 2023.
