The People's Party ceased to have "valid authorities"

The Electoral Court informed Parliament that the People’s Party ceased to have “valid authorities” upon expiration of the terms that had been granted to regularize its situation. Consequently, without registered authorities, among other consequences, he will stop receiving the money that the State conferred per vote and based on the electoral flow obtained in the last national elections and he will not be able to register new groups for the next elections either.

The situation, without precedent in the national electoral history, is part of the dispute between different groups of members of the People’s Party, regarding the election of party authorities. The situation continues from the previous election, when the definitive authorities should have been elected, within 60 days immediately from the date on which the proclamations corresponding to the internal elections are made, a term that was extended for 180 days by a Congress convened on August 1, 2019. After the term “largely” expired without the election of the National Executive Board having been “validly” proceeded, the Electoral Court, on May 11, resolved to notify its provisional authorities, recognized on December 30, 2016, that in order to designate a new National Executive Board, a National Congress must be convened within 60 days with the members of the National Deliberative Body elected in the 2019 internal elections and in accordance with the Party’s statutes from the people.

Once said notification has been completed and “the referred period of 60 days has expired without the Electoral Court having been informed of the election of a National Executive Table in the terms provided for in the party statutes, it must be concluded that the Partido de la Gente has ceased to have authorities. valid documents registered before the Electoral Court”. The communication addressed to the President of the General Assembly, Notary Public Beatriz Argimón, is signed by the President of the Electoral Court, Dr. José Arocena, and by the Legal Secretary, Dr. Esc. Natalia Nogueira.
