Mexico City, Mexico.- This Saturday, May 20, in commemoration of the independence day of the Republic of Cuba, the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance He held the “Seminar for Freedom.” A space where the participants commented on their desire to celebrate this date in Cuba again.
The event It took place in the city of Miami, the historical capital of Cuban exile, and international experts were invited to present on the resistance actions of civil society in Cuba in this period of struggle, including the National Strike, the massive protests in Caimanera and other resistance actions that are being undertaken throughout the island.
The event was attended by Senator Rick Scott, who is currently serving his first term representing the state of Florida. Prior to his election to the US Senate, Scott served two terms as the 45th Governor of Florida. “What better time than now to demand independence?” Scott said, referring to the date commemorated today.

The international context in which this fight for democracy takes place has been one of the main focuses of the freedom seminar “to highlight the main factors that affect the democratization of the Island and define the spread of false narratives.”
The weekly of the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance, coordinated by Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat, also became a space to analyze alliances of anti-democratic actors that are affecting our region. The event was attended by members of the Cuban community in exile and international experts.
