Guapi has no paved streets or large buildings, but it does have caudalous rivers such as Guapi and Nape, which serve as roads between communities. Their wooden houses rise on piles, as if they wanted to touch the sky or escape the growing. From the air, the town seems to float between mangroves, while the Pacific waves sing their eternal song.
Mass tourists do not arrive on their beaches, but stories do arrive. Stories of enslaved who fled towards freedom, of midwives born children with wise songs and hands, fishermen who challenge the tide every dawn. Guapi is the territory of oral traditions, ancestral medicine and a town that has managed to maintain its essence despite state abandonment and violence that still is around its jungles.
