Keire Raichide Vargas Reyes, who is currently demanding a paternity test from former presidential candidate Abel Martínez Durán, previously subjected another man to a similar process in 2011 in Santiago, using the same son he now attributes to the leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
On August 17, 2011, at the request of Vargas Reyes, Juan Antonio Collado Pérez, a resident of the United States, received a summons from the Dominican Republic’s Foreign Ministry to attend a conciliation hearing in the Justice of the Peace Court of the Second District of the Municipality of Santiago de los Caballeros, coordinated by the prosecutor Melania Bautista.
On that occasion, the paternity test was negative. However, it was revealed that Collado Pérez had kept the minor as his son for seven years.
Regarding the complainant Vargas Reyes, according to her birth certificate, she was born on January 18, 1992. This would imply that she is currently 32 years old. The data is relevant because, if her son is 13 years old, Vargas Reyes would be 19 years old at the time of giving birth. Something that contradicts her recent public statement in a viral video where she claims that she became pregnant at 16 years old due to a relationship with Abel Martínez.
Abel Martinez’s legal team responds
Abel Martínez’s legal team responded to Vargas Reyes’ accusations on Saturday through a press release issued by his lawyer, Rafael Ceballos. The statement confirms the PLD leader and his team’s knowledge of the situation, pointing out that they learned of the alleged existence of a son during the electoral campaign.
In light of this situation, the statement added, Abel Martínez assumed financial responsibilities, including monthly payments and support for his mother.
«After the campaign concluded, Abel Martínez went to the governing body of Children and Adolescents to request that the paternity verification process be initiated with the intention of determining if he was the father of the child and, if so, assume all corresponding legal responsibilities. Therefore, as a legal team, we began the legal process and the minor’s mother was summoned, filing the complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the determination of paternity, confident that we would carry out a quick process of mutual consent. In response, the mother reacted with false statements, expressed in a public video,» said Ceballos.
The goal was to confirm whether he is the father of the child who resides in the United States and, if so, to assume all legal obligations. According to Ceballos, in response to the request for a paternity test, Vargas Reyes reacted with statements that they consider false, which were broadcast in a public video.
The authorities and those involved are awaiting the outcome of the ongoing legal process to determine the veracity of the allegations and establish the corresponding responsibilities.
