On December 28, the train with 241 passengers derailed in the municipality of Asunción Ixtaltepec, Oaxaca, near the town of Nizanda, leaving 13 people dead and 98 injured, five seriously.
One of two locomotives and a car fell into a ravine right in one of the curved areas in which the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) had made, during construction, observations such as the need for ground stabilization.
That is why the vice coordinator of the PAN bench, Federico Döring, stated that “it is essential that justice guarantees non-repetition.
“We do not want only the reparation of the damage to families to be economic compensation. We want those responsible for the Secretary of the Navy, the previous government and the current government who did not know how to take care of the lives of Mexicans, who bought junk trains, who did not repair the physical facilities, as indicated by the Superior Audit of the Federation in time so that tragedies like the one on December 28 could be avoided, all answer to justice,” he said.
The PAN strategy consisted of a package of three complaints, the first in a series that they will promote in demand of justice, he explained.
The complaints filed this Tuesday are one before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), a complaint before the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) and a complaint before the Anti-Corruption Secretariat for alleged irregular contracts, overpricing and diversions of public resources around the mega-project.
In the case of the ASF, the document requires a special audit to be carried out on that infrastructure and the participation of external auditors who are experts in this type of work, in addition to monitoring the reviews that from 2019 to 2023 resulted in observations from the ASF for 71.5 million pesos.
“From the background we have, we already saw that there were already observations and that proper use was not being made of the public resources of Mexicans,” declared deputy Héctor Saúl Téllez.
“We ask for the immediate action of these institutions. They have to go to the extreme to sanction in an exemplary manner all the companies and suppliers who are friends of the López Beltrán family clan, where the honorary supervisor was Bobby López Beltrán and that clan of friends like Amilcar Olán who benefited from this type of contracts,” he added.
The mention of the son of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador is due to the fact that according to audios revealed by Latinusone of his close friends, Pedro Salazar, would have received contracts to provide ballast (gravel) for the tracks of the damaged train.
