The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo inaugurated this Monday the House of Culture and Creativity “Alejandro Cuadra” in the facilities where the feminist organization La Corriente operated, in the Martha Quezada neighborhood of District II of Managua.
La Corriente was stripped of its legal status on May 5, 2022 by order of the Ortega regime. On July 8 of that same year, the Ortega Police illegally took over the facilities.
Through the official media it was learned that the vice mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas, was the one who presided over the inauguration of the cultural center, where contemporary dance, creativity, ballet, zumba, folklore courses will be taught, among others.
“The capital’s mayor’s office, always promoting culture and art, opens this new center today (Monday), we are talking about that from this moment the Alejandro Cuadra house of culture and creativity is operating, a very special tribute to the teacher in his 73rd anniversary of his birth,” Armas said.

As reported by the official media, the classes are aimed at children and adolescents. The courses will be free and will be taught from Monday to Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
On Saturdays there will be folklore classes from 9:00-10:30 am; and rhythm and zumba classes from 10:30-12:00 noon.
