The Vice President of the Republic, Hugo Velázquez, manages options regarding the sanction imposed by the United States against him. One of them is to sue the State Department for the lack of evidence in the accusations.
“Several issues surprise from what happened. After the Vice President was appointed by the State Department, we immediately made ourselves available to the American authorities. We voluntarily and proactively offered their cooperation and asked for evidence, but were never given.”, indicated the lawyer Daniel Pulecio, legal representative of Vice President Hugo Velázquez.
In conversation with channel Thirteen, the lawyer indicated that the attacks by the Department of States occurred without evidence and without giving an opportunity to answer the accusations made. “What has happened here is an attack on the vice president’s due process,” he emphasized.

He pointed out that one of the measures that will be taken is to continue to insist that they deliver the evidence and a request for reconsideration of the sanction imposed in an “arbitrary and capricious” manner.
It should be mentioned that the lawyer already announced that Vice President Hugo Velázquez will file a lawsuit against the Department of State and the Treasury to revoke the impediment applied.
