It has become commonplace for representatives of the government and the opposition, and vice versa, to “take their bill” permanently for acts of the present or past. Now the party is here.
The celebration featured photo galleries from the neighboring country’s media, and in several of them President Luis Lacalle appears leading television host Mirtha Legrand by the arm.
The party was led by the Uruguayan ambassador to Argentina, Carlos Enciso. President Lacalle was accompanied, in addition to his mother, Julia Pou, by Uruguayan authorities, among others, the secretary of the presidency Àlvaro Delgado and Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo.
Among the 700 guests were artists and politicians from the opposition of the government of Alberto Fernández. Ambassador Enciso -according to what appears in the newspaper El País- the cost of the party was “8.95 dollars”, that is, about 12.50 dollars per person.
The Broad Front requested a statement of the expenses incurred at that gala party.
