“The one who gets up early does not always…”: Colombia among the countries that get up early and “least productive”

“He who gets up early does not always help God”: Colombia among the countries that get up early and are least productive.

It is true that in Colombia it is customary to get up early, this is partly due to the culture and tradition of the country, where diligence and hard work are valued, and in other cases, due to mobility problems.

Colombian News.

A report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD, ensures that Colombia is the least productive country despite being the one that works the most and gets up early.

Furthermore, in some cities such as Bogotá and Medellín, traffic is intense during rush hour, which is why many people prefer to leave their homes early to avoid traffic congestion and arrive on time for work or commitments.

On average, Colombians start the day at 6:30 in the morning; this is 24 minutes earlier than its closest competitors, such as Indonesians who wake up at 6:55 a.m., according to research by World Statistics.

However, in hundreds of homes, the activity begins between 4 and 5 in the morning, in many cases, especially due to mobility issues.

Part of the industry that never stops operations, also makes its workers get up early.

But, despite all this effort and the famous saying “God helps those who get up early”, productivity does not lend a hand to Colombia.

The profitability in the country is 19.50 dollars, around 92,100 Colombian pesos for each hour worked.

“What these data reflect on the very low labor productivity in Colombia has to do fundamentally with the gaps in education and training for work in the country,” said Sebastián Trujillo, analyst of global indicators for the OECD.

Others such as Mexico, South Africa, Costa Rica, Chile, Greece, Hungary, Portugal and Poland join the list of countries that are not so productive.

However, it is also important to take into account that each person has their own habits and daily routines, and that not all Colombians, however, get up earlier than in other countries in the world.
