The Ombudsman’s Office ended its tour in the community of Charco La Pava in Bocas del Toro, without being able to count any of the alleged victims of forced sterilizations.
Despite this, the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González, assured that “we are going to reach the ultimate consequences” and announced that the Ombudsman’s Office will assume the cost of transportation, accommodation and ultrasound for possible victims.
The Ombudsman’s Office reported that the community did not allow the entrance to the Public Ministry to carry out the proceedings, and that they assured that the institution will continue collecting information to arrive at the material truth.
A “reference” witness who spoke with the Human Rights Officers of the institution mentioned that they do not trust the Social Security Fund or the Ministry of Health, for which Leblanc González urged the community to be aware of the allegedly affected, Present the evidence to the Public Ministry.
