The Ombudsman urged the competent authorities to evaluate the complaint filed by the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavides, against the president peter castle responsibly, transparently and with respect for the Political Constitution.
“This evaluation must be done guaranteeing maximum publicity of the procedures to be followed, so that citizens are kept informed at all times”said the entity in its institutional account on Twitter.
After asking citizens to remain calm, he recalled that the political tensions generated by the current situation should not affect the protection of fundamental rights or the adequate provision of public services.
“In a rule of law, people are always the supreme goal of the public function”sentenced the Ombudsman’s Office on the social network.
According to the constitutional complaint delivered by the Public Prosecutor of the Nation at the table of parts of Parliament, the president is accused of the alleged crimes of criminal organization, influence peddling and collusion.
The document also accuses former ministers of the same crimes. John Silva (Transport and Communications), currently a fugitive; Y Geiner Alvarado (Housing, Construction and Sanitation).
The accusation argues the existence of an alleged criminal organization entrenched in the Government with the purpose of capturing, controlling and directing contracting processes in different levels of the State to obtain illicit profits.
The formalization of the constitutional complaint, before the Congress of the Republic, occurs after three months of investigations carried out by the Attorney General’s Office.
According to the investigations, the organization is made up, among others, of former ministers Juan Silva and Geiner Alvarado, as well as former general manager of Petroperú Hugo Chávez.
