The Ombudsman rejects disclosure of intimate videos and asks to criminally investigate those responsible

A call to society to preserve the right to privacy as one of the constitutional guarantees was made this afternoon by the Ombudsman, this after intimate videos of the singer and presenter Karen Peralta were released.

According to the Ombudsman, privacy belongs to the individual rights of every human being, contained in article 29 of the Political Constitution of the Republic of Panama and article 164 and 166 of the Penal Code that regulates crimes against the Inviolability of Secret and the Right to Privacy.

In addition, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its article 12, clearly establishes that every person has the right not to be the object of any kind of interference in his private life, his family, among other things.

The Ombudsman’s Office expressed its concern about this type of behavior that violates the right to privacy of people by reproducing, forwarding images or videos that violate human dignity, women, children and adolescents and families.

They urged the Public Ministry and the pertinent authorities to continue with the criminal investigations to find the person or persons responsible for these reprehensible actions.
