At the age of 117, the oldest man in Venezuela left for eternity, Santiago Vicente Landaetawho, from a young age, developed in the work of the plain and whose memory will be maintained on every path and in the savanna of Apureña geography.
With a family with an agricultural vocation, Juan Vicente grew up among sugar cane and coffee plantations, fundamental activities for the Venezuelan economy at the time. He worked early with those close to him in the fields and devised mechanisms to increase family production.
Vicente Landaeta witnessed countless historical events and learned about the appearance of important inventions that have revolutionized the world. As a curious fact, it was learned that when he was 51 years old he photographed himself for the first time in black and white.
On April 3, another famous Venezuelan, Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, who, since May 2022, held the Guinness record as the oldest man in the world, died in the state of Táchira, at the age of 114. He had 11 children and dedicated himself to agriculture for more than 50 years. He lived his last five years among recognitions and tributes.
