The official who fired the former director of Alma Mater is dismissed

Nislay Molina, Cuba, Alma Mater

MADRID, Spain.- The Ideologist of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), Nislay Molina Napoles, was recently dismissed from her duties.

Nislay Molina, included by the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FDHC) on the list of repressors, was one of those responsible for the dismissal of Armando Franco Senén, former director of Alma mater.

According to a note in the official newspaper Rebel Youththe “liberation” is due to “movements of cadres in the National Bureau that seek to strengthen the work of the organization with young people who have been linked to working life and accumulate experience in youth management.”

Molina, a native of Camagüey and in charge of the Ideological Sphere since 2020, was the one who informed the journalist Armando Franco Senén of his dismissal on April 26.

According to statements Offered by Franco Senén, at the time of his removal from office, the official stated: “We should have thrown you out a long time ago, there is nothing more to talk about, we are doing you the favor of freeing you. You can do whatever you want, it’s our decision.”

The former director of Alma mater made it clear that, during the exchange with the repressor, she interrupted him on several occasions with criteria that he described as “rude.”

After the news of Senén’s dismissal was announced, both journalists and readers of the publication expressed their discontent.

The Editor-in-Chief of Alma mater, Yoandry Ávila Guerra, left the university magazine. While the renowned journalist Joaquín Borges Triana declared: “In the 36 years that I have been a journalism graduate, I have been a witness again and again to stories like the one that now motivates multiple comments on the networks. Let’s suppose that yes, that Armandito made a mistake in something and for those mistakes he has to be released. In such a case, this corroborates that in the exercise of journalism in a society like Cuba’s, there is no margin for error. A doctor can make a mistake and someone can die because of him, but it may not come to light. In journalism it doesn’t happen like that.

The FDHC, when including Nislay Molina in its list of repressors last May, referred to his activities and his influence within the UJC. Just as he recalled that the objective of the FDHC is “to stop, reduce and eradicate violence and arbitrariness for political, economic, social, cultural, creed, race or sexual orientation reasons and thus contribute to facilitating coexistence in the future Cuba” .
