The occupation of the campus grounds of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (Uagrm) sand is maintained indefinitely and the students who are carrying out this measure demand that the University Electoral Court call for new student elections.
Elymar García Acosta, candidate for the Local University Federation (FUL), points out that the Campus occupation is “peaceful” in rejection of “bias” that the university court had with the orange Unity Front, which is seeking re-election in the FUL.
“Only two fronts qualified as candidates. A front seeks re-election for a third time and the other is a ghost, they are not going to lie to us or deceive us. We were the third force, but they have not allowed us to register,” he lamented.
According to the university student, they are 13 student fronts that were affected because the university court authorized last Saturday to complete the requirements, a day that is not a business day to carry out these procedures.
“There are more than 13 fronts that have been left out of the registrations. They have not been able to register because the court enabled a Saturday, a non-working day to carry out procedures such as collecting the Rejap, which It is one of the requirements for applying to the Center, ICU, FUL,” he questioned.
Elymar García points out that with this measure they are demanding that they be called new elections in a “transparent” manner and asks the members of the electoral court and the rector Vicente Cuellar to address their request.
“On Saturday, we were physically and psychologically attacked; I was punched in the face. We have already filed the corresponding complaints.. Other colleagues have also been attacked with fireworks and glass.stones, gang members hired by the Orange Unity Front have come,” the student denounced.
The campus takeover, which began this Thursday, will remain in place indefinitely, as the university court is expected to call new student elections.
