The Ministry of Labor reported on Monday that the number of people on unemployment insurance decreased compared to January. The decrease was 4.8% in the monthly relation, which is equivalent to 2,278 fewer workers.
The ministry reported that 11,846 left the subsidy, a figure almost identical to that registered the previous month. Of this total, 6,588 did so for reinstatement to work and 5,258 for dismissal.
In the opposite direction, 9,568 workers entered unemployment insurance, 3,542 less than in the previous month, equivalent to a decrease of 27%. Of this total, 4,379 (45.8%) entered for reasons of dismissal and 5,189 did so for reduction or suspension.
The ministry’s report indicated that the evolution of unemployment insurance in the last three months maintained a stable trend, with the sole exception of January, when there were some changes due to the end of the partial unemployment insurance scheme.
He added that in that month higher numbers of total unemployment insurance were verified and the amount of dismissal subsidies was reduced, indicating that the majority of workers in partial insurance rejoined the activity.
In the breakdown by activity sectors in February, slight reductions were noted in the majority and strong decreases in administrative and support services (478 fewer workers), in the agricultural sector of forestry and fishing (464), in manufacturing industry (451) and in accommodation and food services (222).
