Vente Venezuela, the political organization of the opposition María Corina Machado, is one of the most persecuted since the presidential elections of July 28. This Friday, December 20, there was news of a new arrest in the state of Yaracuy against the activist Yerwin Torrealba.
“Yerwin Torrealba, organizational coordinator in Vente Joven Yaracuy, was arbitrarily detained on the afternoon of this Thursday, December 19, at his residence, located in the Bruzual municipality, Yaracuy state,” Vente DDHH reported on the social network X.
The organization added that the activist was taken for alleged interrogation by armed officials, aboard an unmarked gray van. Since then he remains in the hands of the authorities and their whereabouts are unknown.. Vente demanded information about Torrealba and asked for his immediate release.

Relatives reported to local media that he was detained at his home at approximately one in the afternoon and the arrest was carried out by plainclothes agents who initially identified themselves as officials of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc), but They ended up taking him to the headquarters of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) in San Felipe.

Vente Venezuela is the party with the most arrests so far, The number they register is 59 imprisoned members and nine releases for a total of 60 persecuted. The second opposition party with the most persecutions is Primero Justicia with 34 detainees. In total, party activists, there are 170 detainees.
Local media indicated that Yerwin was detained along with his sister, that they both had their phones checked and that the sister was later released. Relatives do not know the reasons for the arrest and asked that his physical integrity be guaranteed.
Until December 16, the organization Criminal Forum registered 1,877 political prisoners in Venezuela. The majority are men: 1,642 and 235 women. Six teenagers between 14 and 17 years old also remain detained.
