The number of provinces in the country on alert for rains increases to 15

Aumentan a 15 las provincias del país en alerta por lluvias

The CEmergency Operations Center (COE) and the National Meteorology Office (ONAMET)increased this Sunday to 15 provinces under alert for the rains caused by two troughs that affect the meteorological conditions of the Dominican Republic. They also warned that the predictions indicate that rains are expected in the next 24 to 36 hours.

The director of COEJuan Manuel Méndez, reported that people should refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that have high volumes of water and not use spas.

The authorities established a yellow alert for the provinces of Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo and Hato Mayor, while for Duarte, Barahona, Azua, San José de Ocoa, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez and Juan Sánchez Ramírez indicated a green alert.

Likewise, Méndez indicated that until this Sunday morning the rains have affected 28 homes; displaced 140 people; They have left three towns incommunicado and 9 affected aqueducts. No bridge and road damage reported for now.

The representatives of the relief agencies told the population to remain alert to any possible risk situation that could threaten their safety, in addition, they insisted that citizens continue to follow up on the recommendations of the authorities and the development of climatic conditions during this Sunday.
