The number of illegal Colombian migrants in the United States continues to increase

Colombians continue to arrive at the southern border of the United States in order to enter the country illegally. The US Customs and Border Control Office published the statistics for the month of March.

According to the entity, from March 1 to 31, 15,144 Colombians who were trying to enter the country illegally were arrested or applied for asylum at the time of their arrest. So far in 2022, the authorities in total have captured approximately 40,000 citizens of Colombia.

That is there was an increase of 545% in these 3 months against the illegal arrests that occurred in 2021.

US authorities are concerned about the high numbers of migrants on the southern border. In March, an agreement was signed with Colombia to receive expelled nationals under Title 42, which allows people to be removed expressly and without the relevant immigration process.

Since Title 42 came into force, more than 2,000 Colombians have been expelled from the United States.
