The number of cases continues to drop: Ssa

The Ministry of Health (Ssa) reported that the number of cases of covid-19 in Mexico remains low, with a drop of 17 percent for the period from March 27 to April 2 compared to the previous week.

Confirmed infections rose by 648 yesterday, for a total of 5,723,862, while deaths increased by 78, for a total of 323,805 since the start of the pandemic in the country.

Hospital occupancy is reported unchanged, with demand for 4 percent of the total for general beds and 3 percent for spaces with ventilators, thus maintaining the 98 percent reduction compared to the peak of the second wave.

The National Vaccination Strategy reports that 163 thousand 541 doses were applied on Monday, with a cumulative of 194 million 95 thousand 557 since the beginning of immunization in Mexico. To date there are 85 million 676 thousand 600 immunized people. Of these, 79.9 million have completed their vaccination course, and 5.7 million have received at least one dose. The average coverage of the population aged 18 and over that has already been immunized is 90 percent.
