The French Embassy in Cuba invites you to La Noche de las Ideas, this Thursday, April 20 at 5:30 pm at the Cuban Art Factory (FAC).
The event proposes a reflection on creative and supportive spaces as a source of value creation and will have two activities as its axis. The first, a conference by the French Antoine Burret on the theme of “The future of our third places.”
According to the information provided by the diplomatic headquarters, the notion of “third place” was constructed by the American sociologist Ray Oldenburg, in a book published in 1989 “The Great, Good Place”, to define the hybrid places in the city: “places that do not correspond to the home or the workplace. Hybrid places that are substituted between public space and private space, which contributes to economic development and the activation of local resources”.
There will also be a debate articulated around 3 major themes:
- Third places, source of creativity
- Third places, places of social cohesion
- Third places, source of a durable economy?
In addition to Antoine Burret, the filmmaker Inti Herrera, who is part of the FAC team; Katia Cárdenas Jiménez, from the Office of the City Historian; Jorge Luis Suarez Alfonso, architect of the CUJAE; and Deborah Vásquez Tamayo, from the Akokán Project.
