The health It refers to several areas and one of them is the economic, social and cultural right at a minimum level to which all people are entitled. This service is very important for people and in the event of an illness or emergency they must receive medical attention. In some countries, this service is completely free; In others it is private and can even be mixed. On this occasion, Argentina made a decision that may affect thousands of Chileans.
If something characterized Argentina is that it had a system of health completely free, both for local and foreign citizens, so they had to serve all people equally in health centers and hospitals. However, since Javier Milei took office as president, this has been changing since they have proposed that it be mixed and that foreign citizens have to pay for their medical care.
In recent weeks, the province of Salta made the decision to tariff the health for all foreign citizens who receive care in public hospitals. However, it would not be the only province since Río Gallegos will join and in relation to this, the Minister of Health of the Patagonian region, Ariel Varela stated: “The economic situation that the health system is going through is unsustainable and that is why we took this decision”.
In this way, once the corresponding procedures are carried out, the health public for foreigners will be tariffed and they will be charged 50% more than the hospital nomenclature. However, he assured that only those who visit the province of Santa Cruz will be charged for health care and not those who already reside there.
