The new government supports the undersecretaries criticized by the right, pointing out that the background "was known by the teams and was considered at the time of making the appointments"

The Government that enters on March 11, sent two messages to the population this Thursday, one is that it shows all the support for the people they elected as undersecretaries and the second is that Chile must regain control of its borders.

First of all, this week, the elected administration released the complete list of the 39 undersecretaries with whom it will come to power this year and Iskia Siches, as future Minister of the Interior, supports and defends the appointed members, in the face of criticism that came on the right, where two names caused a lot of noise on the political spectrum.

The first was the communist Galo Eildestein Silber, the next undersecretary for the Armed Forces. The civil engineer in electricity and psychologist is pointed out by the incoming opposition as one of the people who had to do with the decline of the Arcis University, precisely due to the Communist Party. There, Eildestein was vice-chancellor for management between 2006 and 2013.

The other undersecretary in the eye of the hurricane is Alfredo Gutiérrez Vera, who is going as an authority in Public Works. He was criticized because a few years ago he faced a lawsuit for administrative prevarication, which is defined as: proposing or appointing someone who does not meet the requirements established by law to hold public office.

Asked about this issue, the future chief of staff and interior minister came out in defense of the elected members. “More than failing the check, there are always antecedents that are not fully known, but many of them were known by the teams and were considered when making the appointments,” Siches told the media.

“When there are announcements, there will be very clear information about the team to be able to notify the press and public opinion,” he concluded.

On the other hand, in second place, the president-elect, Gabriel Boric, addressed in greater depth the migratory crisis in the north, this morning, in the “Small Coin”, where he received a Venezuelan citizen who entered legally and who now needs help to renew your visa.

Given this situation, the President assured that those who have duly entered Chile will undertake to review the cases with the Foreign Ministry and Immigration.

Even so, he commented that in the country, “we have a very big problem with illegal migration,” Boric said at the instance, “and we have to stop it very clearly (…) In other words, Chile has to recover the control of its borders”, concluded the next president. However, he recalled that they still cannot do anything, because I Approve Dignity does not have powers until he takes office in March.

Boric’s team, which is suffering from an outbreak of covid-19, goes on vacation this Friday and returns to work on February 21. That day the process begins to be streamlined to finalize the change of command.
