The new 'cocktails'? Venceremos raises money with 'polladas' and soccer tournaments

Raising money with food and sports is the new strategy that a sector of the left has launched to finance its electoral campaign in these 2026 elections.

The alliance we will win has begun to deploy this formula for collecting money in Lima and Piura.

Although there are no exclusive rooms, the method undertaken is not far from the cocktails organized by Fuerza Popular (FP) of Keiko Fujimori during the 2011 and 2016 campaigns. The left-wing coalition has opted for popular activities such as polladas and soccer championships that have to be controlled and declared.

Polladas and soccer in Piura

Peru21 detected on the social networks of the presidential candidate of We will win, Ronald Atencio, that in Piura the congressional candidates for that region, Junior Velazco and Alina Merino, have been promoting polladas where the cardboard is sold for S/20 and the registration to play ball for S/150.

It is striking that the contribution mechanism is not specified—whether it will be via Yape or Plin, in cash or through a bank account—unlike a previous survey carried out in the capital, where it was detailed.

The activity will be on the 18th of this month.

Junior Velazco is running with No. 1 and Alina Merino with No. 4, both for the Piura region.

Until July of last year, Velazco worked as a technician in the Commission of Andean, Amazonian and Afro-Peruvian Peoples, which until that date was chaired by the former presidential candidate of Voces del Pueblo, Guillermo Bermejo, sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crime of affiliation to terrorism.

As stated in his resume, he has a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from the National University of Piura.

According to the Special Electoral Jury (JEE), his registration has not yet been admitted.

For her part, Alina Merino, like Velazco, served as an advisor on the Commission of Andean, Amazonian and Afro-Peruvian Peoples until last July.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the National University of Piura and his candidacy is also pending admission.

In Lima: the same strategy

Pollada in Lima was held at the Patria Roja location.

In this context, on December 30 there was a riot at the premises of the Communist Party of Peru – Patria Roja, located in the Center of Lima.

Unlike the activity organized in Piura, on this occasion Venceremos did provide a Yape number and bank accounts to make payments.

The cost of the chicken portion remained at S/20 and the event added the presentation of musical groups and raffles as attractions. Even Ronald Atencio himself confirmed his participation.

They must inform the ONPE

The expert on electoral issues José Tello pointed out to Peru21 that political organizations are obliged to report to the ONPE all the contributions they collect through this type of activities, and that said responsibility falls on the campaign manager.

This medium consulted the alliance we will win to know if you have already complied with reporting these income to the electoral body. The group indicated that they will respond in the next few hours.

Meanwhile, fundraising activities continue as part of the dynamics of the electoral campaign. We will be attentive.
