The Chilean Navy confirmed the discovery of the body that, preliminarily, would correspond to the third victim who was swept away by the waves last Friday on a beach not suitable for bathing in Pingueral, Tomé commune, in the Biobío region.
Although the identification has not yet been made, preliminary information indicates that it would be the father of the family, Bryan Salas Ferreira, who was being intensely searched and only some of his belongings had been found, such as a sweater and his wallet. .
Captain Francisco Requena, head of the search efforts, indicated that “unfortunately we found the lifeless body of a person, something that saddens us all, but we have the satisfaction of having fulfilled our duty and giving the family peace of mind a once it is verified that he is the person we are looking for”.
It should be remembered that the man and his family -neighbors of the city of Talcahuano-, were spending the afternoon on the coastline. At about 3:00 p.m. last Wednesday, a large wave swept away their children when they were walking along the seashore.
It was at that moment when the 33-year-old man and his wife rushed into the water in search of the children, a nine-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, who were dragged out to sea. People who were on the scene tried to rescue the family, but they could only get the mother of the children out.
