Antón Lizardo, Ver., The cadets of the Heroic Military Naval School (HENM) are required more than in a university, since it is sought that they form a lifestyle based on the discipline, specialization and continuous update with a comprehensive training. Entering the HENM implies passing a knowledge exam, a physical, a sicometric and meet the requirements of not having offspring, being single and not being pregnant.

Since its creation in 1897, to date, 6,836 officers of the different careers that Henm have, located in Veracruz have graduated. In the current school year there are 1,152 cadets, 835 men and 337 women.

The careers are modified depending on the needs of the country, in this period there are three professionally. The most requested is Naval Systems Engineering (general body), with 823 students (566 men and 257 women); It is followed by Hydrography Engineering (Marine Infantry), with 253 (199 men and 54 women), and finally naval aeronautical engineering, with 96 (70 men and 26 women).

On a media tour of the Heroic School, organized by the Secretariat of the Marina-Armada de México (Semar), the Vice Admiral Félix de Jesús Martínez Tiburcio, director of the institution, said in his welcome message that the school seeks to train professional sailors , through constant update and modern infrastructure to compete with international standards.

Show this are the areas of laboratories and simulators. The institution has a flight simulator and two maritime for students to become familiar with the ships and arrive prepared when they perform their practices last year.

For the Naval Aeronautics race, during the third year they do simulated flight practices in a Bimotor aircraft, in order that when passing to the fourth and last year of the race they are familiar for their practical classes, better known as real flightIn La Paz, Baja California Sur, said aspiring Aaroniz López.

Classes start at 7 hours and end at 12:30. Each lasts 50 minutes and have 10 -minute breaks between them. The three races have nautical subjects and others normalthat is, they comply with a curriculum of the Secretary of Public Education and others in the military field; For example, mathematics focused on nautical.

Their uniforms are white, they wear gleaming black shoes and briefcases instead of backpacks. In the afternoon they change to sportswear with navy blue tones, because after food they are dedicated to physical activities. At night, their clothing is a chaqui color and they are dedicated to the study and to start the tasks of their classes. Men cadets cut their hair every week, while women hold it completely.

Sport is essential for their development, because they should not only know combat techniques, but apply the proper use of force. All cadets must carry a sports discipline and have to approve physical tests every six months, It seems that they are thin, but the important thing is the strength and agility they possess.

The disciplines allow, through the set of techniques, plan strategies and make decisions at the exact moment, which will later be reflected in decision -making on board the units and facilities of the Mexican Navy, said the fourth year cadet Gerardo Espejel Peña.

Among the disciplines they carry are swimming, boxing, basketball, volleyball and boating.

In addition, before practicing their sport, they must be exercised in the gym to maintain the condition and be able to pass the physical tests. Not only are they prepared in the issue of combat and defense, but also to adhere to human rights guidelines.

Other skills that students come out are diving and shooting, because they must be prepared for combat. The Frigate Lieutenant Tiring Instructor Diego Morán Ramos infantry explained that they have two areas, one to shoot with a short weapon, for example 9 mm (mm) calibers up to 45 mm; The other is more open, can measure up to 100 meters and the practices are with rifles.

Part of their professional development is to know the security measures that we occupy on a day -to -day basis with our weapons and teach them techniques, because they all perform their guard services and thereby avoid collateral damage in case of a confrontation.

He indicated that both men and women have the same training; By graduating everyone can carry a weapon and fight in combat.
