The National Population and Housing Census reached a historic figure of 97.5% at the country level
The national director of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Iván Ojeda, reported this Friday at a press conference that the preliminary coverage of the 2022 National Population and Housing Census reached the historic figure of 97.5% at a general level throughout the territory . This figure is already given at the end of the data recovery stage, together with the Rural Census and the Indigenous Census.

At the urban level throughout the country, the total preliminary coverage is 97.2%. While the Rural Census reached a total preliminary coverage of 97.9% and the total coverage of the Indigenous Census is 98.0%.

Regarding urban areas, the reports at the end of the operation are 100% coverage in the departments of Concepción, San Pedro, Cordillera, Guairá, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, Paraguarí, Ñeembucú, Amambay, Canindejú, Presidente Hayes and Alto Paraguay. While in the departments of Alto Paraná, Boquerón, Asunción and Central, the total preliminary coverage is between 98.0 and 95.0% respectively.

Regarding the Rural Census, at the country level the coverage was 100% in the departments of Concepción, Cordillera, San Pedro, Guairá, Caazapá, Paraguarí, Ñeembucú, Canindejú, Itapúa and Misiones. In Caaguazú and Alto Paraná coverage reached a total of 98.0%; while in Central and Amambay it was 95.0%. In Presidente Hayes the coverage was 90.0% and in Boquerón and Alto Paraguay it was 75.0%.

Indigenous Census Coverage

Regarding the total percentage of coverage of the Indigenous Census, 100% of indigenous communities and 98% of indigenous homes were reached. The 2% pending could not be counted due to community leadership problems, religious option, or because they are houses in conflict zones or difficult access.

Census takers and supervisors of the 19 indigenous peoples applied the census instruments in more than 782 communities, villages, neighborhoods, family nuclei and with individuals from 14 departments of the country. A total of 1,391 people worked, including census takers and supervisors, all belonging to the native communities.

payment to volunteers

Regarding the payment to the volunteers who worked in the November 9 operation, the amounts have been accredited for 144,718 people, totaling a disbursed amount of 18,175 million guaraníes (USD 2,596,537).

As of Monday, November 28, the lists of census takers and supervisors of the rural area will be passed to process the payments for the completion of the Rural Census.

Post-census stage

Also at the conference, the head of the INE referred to the post-census stage, which began this week with reverse logistics, which is the receipt of census materials filled out on November 9 from various parts of the country.

These materials are classified and go through a control process, to then be located by departments in the racked warehouses that the institution already has ready. Then the stage of verification, typing and loading of data will begin.
