After nine years of absence, the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) returns this weekend to the “José Jacinto Milanés” theater in Pinar del Río, presenting a selection of classics under the general direction of Viengsay Valdés.
The three performances (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) conclude the national tour that the company has been doing since February through Matanzas, Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Holguín, with intermediate presentations in Havana.
The program includes selections from Coppelia, Swan Lake Y Nutcracker, in the choreographic versions of Alicia Alonso; in addition to rhythmicby Iván Tenorio, and fragments of Carmenby Alberto Alonso.
Likewise, they will be interpreted only the death of a swan, by Michel Descombey; and Winter Y Duetby choreographer and dancer Ely Regina Hernández.
These presentations are dedicated to the six decades of the National Folkloric Ensemble, and coincide with the 55th anniversary of the premiere of Carmenby Alberto Alonso (1917-2007), and the 105th birthday of one of the founders of the BNC.
