Gabriel Peñaloza was charged by the Public Ministry, who will remain deprived of liberty and faces the maximum penalty for the crimes of kidnapping with death in captivity and association to commit a crime. He is the alleged perpetrator of the murder of the Faddoul brothers and the driver who worked for them, Miguel Rivas.
The information was provided on the Instagram social network account of the Public Ministry, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, who indicated that the Full National Prosecutor’s Office 61, requested a measure of deprivation of liberty of the aforementioned subject.
The case of the murder of brothers Faddoul and Miguel Rivas shocked the Venezuelan community 19 years ago.
The Faddoul brothers, Jason, Kevin and John Bryan Faddoul, ages 12, 13 and 17 respectively, were kidnapped at dawn on February 23, 2006 when their driver Miguel Rivas was taking them to school.
Some individuals wearing police uniforms set up a false checkpoint in the Vista Alegre urbanization and carried out the kidnapping on February 23, 2006. They requested a million-dollar sum. However, in the month of April, the bodies of the young people and Mr. Miguel Rivas were found with signs of torture.
The Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) captured 20 people involved in such events and after being brought to trial, the majority received a sentence of 30 years in prison.
