One of the solutions, for the president of the Foundation, is the constant training of boys, girls and adolescents on the prevention of sexual abuse in all areas, although she regretted that this topic is not touched on recurrently in educational spaces nor is it part of of campaigns from the State
The president of the Muralla Foundation, Keila Candotti, warned about the “drastic increase” in cases of sexual abuse against minors in Venezuela, due to the increase in reports during the first four months of the year.
The activist said that there are multiple causes that generate abuse against children and adolescents, including the lack of protection of many of them due to the migration of their parents and representatives.
“Unfortunately there is a great social decomposition, lack of values, the abuse and sexual exploitation of boys, girls and adolescents have been normalized; also the migration of parents has left many children unprotected, ”she specified.

During the first quarter of 2022, the NGO Uquira documented 28 cases of sexual abuse throughout the country. 25 of the victims were minors, six of them children or adolescents. Three of the cases were related to the trafficking of women, girls and adolescents for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
Another fact highlighted by the NGO is that almost 50% of the sexual abuse documented in that period were committed by a father or family figure.

The president of the Foundation explained that in the state of Barinas “a 15-year-old adolescent raped and murdered an 11-year-old girl; in the state of Aragua, the case of a soccer coach who abused adolescents between 11 and 13 years old was known; In the states of Mérida and Táchira, some subjects have been arrested that have to do with this crime.”
One of the solutions, for Candotti, is the constant training of boys, girls and adolescents on the prevention of sexual abuse in all areas, although he regretted that this topic is not touched on recurrently in educational spaces nor is it part of campaigns from the Condition.
