The Ministry of Public Health confirmed new cases of chikungunya, both imported

A new case of chikungunya It was registered in the last hours in Fray Bentos, Río Negro. A woman, who had recently traveled to Paraguay presented symptoms of the disease, reported radio Monte Carlo and confirmed sources from the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) to The Observer. This case is added to another registered last Friday in Salto, that of a minor who traveled to the shared border between Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, and upon returning to the country presented symptoms of the disease.
The woman has already been isolated and the health authorities of the department ordered that the blocks surrounding the patient’s home be fumigated.
Protocol
The Departmental Directorate of Health of Salto reported in a statement that the protocol to be performed before the appearance of a case of this disease, dengue or zika (infected by the Aedes aegypti mosquito) it is “area blocking”. Within the framework of this protocol, suspected febrile cases should be searched for in the area, eliminate possible mosquito breeding sites, place mosquito traps and apply insecticide with a “drag machine”.
As reported by the MSP, given the epidemiological situation in neighboring countries (in which cases have been registered), population movement and climatic variables “configure a situation of higher risk of contracting diseases” that the Aedes aegypti mosquito spreads.

Some advice from the MSP to avoid contagion of these diseases are: control possible mosquito breeding areas, such as containers that accumulate water; use repellent whenever you are outdoors, especially in the morning and at night; and sleep in places protected by mosquito nets.
In addition, in the event of symptoms such as fever, joint pain, muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue and skin rash, consult a doctor.
