The formal announcement will take place at a press conference scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Huella de Seregni, the headquarters of the Frente Amplio. According to the statement issued by the MPP, the conference will be led by the main representatives of the sector.
Blanca Rodríguez, known for her long career as host of the news program “Subrayado,” will enter politics as an “independent Frente Amplio supporter.” Her inclusion on the Espacio 609 list for the Senate has been seen as a strategic move by the MPP, which seeks to strengthen its presence in the political arena with high-profile figures.
Yamandú Orsi, one of the leaders of the MPP and presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio, said on Sunday that Rodríguez’s incorporation is a “fundamental contribution” to the left-wing coalition. Orsi stressed that the former host is a widely recognized public figure with vast experience in communication, attributes that he considers valuable for the party.
For his part, MPP Senator Daniel Caggiani announced on Tuesday morning on the television program Arriba Gente that the person who will head the lists will be Senator Alejandro Sánchez seeking a “renewal” although he confirmed that both Pepe Mujica and Lucía Topolansky will also appear.
