After the resignation of Cecilia Cairo to the Ministry of Housing, the Movement of Popular Participation (MPP) expressed on Monday its support both the former Green and President Yamandú Orsi, and considered that the issue is already closed.
The MPP Executive Committee met at noon to analyze the situation generated after knowing that Cairo had not declared or regularized the construction of four homes in a family field in white straws. At a press conference, Senator Daniel Caggiani declared that “for us it is a laudado issue.”
“We listen to the explanations of the companion Cairo. We support her attitude in presenting the resignation and also support the President Orsi, who accepted it. Surely in the next few days the new minister will be known,” he said.
Caggiani acknowledged that the sector expected Cairo to remain five years at the head of the portfolio. “It was certainly not expected. We wanted him to continue in the Ministry, but he is a political and social militant, and will continue to contribute in the campaign and in the Chamber of Deputies,” he said.
Asked about possible controls prior to the appointment of hierarchs, the senator indicated that the MPP does not make “interrogations” to its applicants, but proposes “to the best companions”, trusting that they fulfill all their obligations.
“The issue is resolved, Cecilia is now regularizing its situation. For us the important thing is to continue working on government priorities. Housing is one of the five strategic issues defined by the Council of Ministers, both in the budgetary and in management,” he concluded.
