Havana Cuba. – The mother of a newborn baby, found dead in a Boyeros dump, was arrested this Wednesday, according to residents of the Mulgoba neighborhood quoted by the journalist Mario J. Pentón.
“Apparently it was an abortion, or at least that’s what she told the director of the polyclinic who was at her house,” said one of the neighbors. “She is a very calm woman. She was about 36 weeks pregnant. Nobody believes this is happening,” she added.
According to Pentón, several neighbors shared photos of the arrest and assured that there was an ongoing investigation. For their part, the authorities did not respond to the reporter’s requests for information.
Last Tuesday, Comunales workers found the newborn baby, lifeless, in a garbage dump on the limits of the Mulgoba neighborhood in Havana, according to reported the user Didier Lama in the Facebook group called “Barrio de Mulgoba”.
“They find the corpse of a newborn child in the garbage dump on the Chusmita curve. The curve that goes to the Sierra Maestra distribution ”, specifies the publication.
According to several witnesses who CubaNet was able to contact, the body was discovered by community workers who were collecting garbage in a truck today, around 4:00 on Tuesday afternoon.
“I just put my hand on my forehead and exclaimed: ‘Why did I see this, my God!’ How bad it has made me see the baby surrounded by flies… I asked God for mercy for that woman, because justice has to come down very hard on her,” Yusimí Herrera, a neighbor of Mulgoba, published in a comment.
“First They abandon the newborn baby in Alquízar and today they find in Mulgoba, Boyeros, a corpse of another baby abandoned in a garbage dump and unfortunately this one was not seen in time and did not suffer the same fate…”, he said in another post a user identified as Isol G.
Last month, residents of the town of Mayorquín, municipality of Alquízar, found a newborn baby abandoned. Little her was still covered in blood and she dangled her umbilical cord.
