Chile ranks first among the most innovative economies in the region, according to the results of the World Innovation Index 2022

Chile ranks first among the most innovative economies in Latin Americaaccording to the results ofGlobal Innovation Index 2022prepared each year by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Of a total of 16 countries evaluated in the region, Chile obtained a score of 34 out of 100, placing it among the 50 best in the world. With 32.5 points, Brazil positioned itself for the first time in the Latin American top 3, displacing Mexico, with 31.
Despite underperforming compared to other regions, Colombia (63),Uruguay (64)Peru (65) and Argentina (69) were the countries that rose the most in this edition of the index, ranking among the top 70 globally.
Latin America recorded the largest increase in venture capital operations in the world in 2021. However, the report highlights that the Innovation financing tends to be more difficult in periods of economic crisis, so a slowdown in venture capital investments in the region is expected by 2022.
