The government strengthened the network of laboratories in the initiative of the Ministry of Sciences called More Labs in the Region with the investment of two laboratories: that of the University of Caldas and the health department, which had investments of $2,589 million ($2,000 million from the General Royalties System, and $589 million in counterpart contributions).
Juan de Jesús Reyes, Vice Minister of Knowledge, Innovation and Productivity (e) said that these two laboratories in the department “They seek to respond to all these health needs and guarantee, through their infrastructure, the continuity of operations and the provision of services to the entire community.”.
With these research centers, which develop the provision of specialized services in the diagnosis of diseases with a high impact on public health in the country, a total of 33 strengthened laboratories are completed in 14 departments, which had more than $103,000 million investment from the General System of Royalties, for Science, Technology and Innovation.
These initiatives currently operate for the benefit of 23,260,000 people.
“We closed the royalties project that allowed the strengthening of two laboratories in public health issues. The resources of the ministry were essential”, said Patricia Salazar, vice-chancellor of projection of the University of Caldas.
The More Labs in the Region strategy has consolidated a total of 57 projects that provide specialized scientific and technological services for the diagnosis, treatment, containment and monitoring of diseases.
