The construction of the Monument to Christ the King in Belalcázar reflects a symbol of unity

According to the Mayor’s Office of that municipality, it was built in the 1940s, in the midst of the political violence that plagued the country, the Monument to Christ the King is a witness to the capacity for unity of the inhabitants of Belalcázar.

Despite the tensions between liberals and conservatives, a priest managed to bring together the community, without distinction of ideologies, to build the imposing work. Thanks to the joint efforts of the residents, who contributed labor and resources, the monument was erected as a symbol of civility and belonging.

At the foot of the monument is the chapel of the Fallen Lord, an image venerated by the inhabitants of the region and considered miraculous by many. Every November, the La Inmaculada Parish organizes the traditional novenas in honor of the Fallen Lord, which makes the place an important pilgrimage destination for thousands of faithful who seek favors or wish to express gratitude for the graces received.

A tourist attraction in Caldas

The Monument to Christ the King is not only a religious and cultural icon, but also the main tourist attraction of Belalcázar, known as the “Balcony of the Landscape” for its spectacular views.

Thanks to its historical and spiritual value, every year thousands of tourists and pilgrims visit this place, which consolidates it as a reference in the Coffee Region and a must-see site for those who wish to explore the natural, cultural and religious wealth of the region.

Without a doubt, the Monument to Christ the King is much more than a statue: it is a place full of history, faith and natural beauty that continues to be a meeting point for those seeking a respite of peace and contemplation.
