The Ministry of Transport announced that the rules governing cable transport will be updated. To this end, it said: signed a contract with the ‘Unión Temporal Normativa Cable 2024’ in order to carry out a study to adjust the rules by which it operates.

The task of this firm will be to identify these systems, the operating and safety manuals, as well as the different modalities.

According to the Ministry’s analysis, not only companies with a valid operating permit and authorization will be included, but also “also those systems that do not currently have such authorizations, but that serve or provide their services.”
Thus, the portfolio explained, “A characterization will be designed according to the typology and cable transport services that currently exist in Colombia, according to their modality, infrastructure, among other variables.”
He added that “an analysis of technical characteristics, inventories of manuals, descriptions of safety and protection elements, as well as rescue and emergency response procedures will be carried out, which will allow progress towards the formalization and commissioning of more sustainable cable transport systems in the regions of Colombia.”
