The Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, assured that Vladimir Cerrón is not in Arequipaas Congressman Edwin Martínez had assured. According to the head of the Mininter, they had already received that information, but they verified that the data had been manipulated.
“What I told Congressman Edwin Martínez is that the information that had been shared with him was information that both our intelligence system and our analysis system had already detected was manipulated information, they were false and adulterated chats,” Santiváñez explained to the press.
Santiváñez also indicated that the chats, where the Cerrón Rojas issue was allegedly discussed, had been tampered with, because although the cell phone was in his name, it was used by his 13-year-old son. “There is no way that such a conversation could have taken place,” he said.

On August 7, the congressman of the Popular Action party, Edwin Martinezspoke out about the delivery of a USB with chats relevant to the complaint against several congressmen of Peru Libre. These conversations allegedly show coordination to avoid the arrest of fugitive Vladimir Cerrón.
The parliamentarian has assured that this external memory device delivered to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Judiciary, the Ministry of the Interior, the State Attorney General’s Office and the Congressional Attorney includes chats and the alleged current location of Vladimir Cerrón, who would be in the city of Caylloma, in the Department of Arequipa.
“According to these chats, there would be conversations between the regional governor of Arequipa and this group of congressmen who are seeking to protect Cerrón. Apparently, Cerrón would be hiding in Caylloma, Arequipa,” Martínez said during an interview on Canal N.
